Mizoram is a state in the North Eastern region of India. It has an international boundary of 722 km. Sandwiched between Myanmar in the east and south and Bangladesh in the west, Mizoram occupies an area of great strategic importance.
Most Mizos are Christians after coming under the influence of British missionaries in the 19th century. The missionaries introduced the Roman script for the Mizo language and used it to impart formal education. With more than 88% of the population literate, Mizoram is the second most literate state in the country. |
