Jharkhand is a mineral rich state. It has Indias largest iron ore, copper, mica, asbestos, uranium and sillimanite deposits. Besides this it also has rich deposits of bauxite, coal, thorium, chromite, gold and several other minerals.
Jamshedpur is where the first iron and steel plant in India was set up. Tata Steel, a S&P CNX 500 conglomerate has its corporate office in Jharkhand. It reported a gross income of Rs 204,910 million for 2005.
